Former Irish International full back Conor O’Shea has been appointed Director of Rugby at London Irish with immediate effect.
London Irish have confirmed that former Ireland full-back Conor O’Shea has been appointed director of rugby of the Exiles with immediate effect.
O’Shea, who announced his retirement from playing recently said: “I was hoping for an interesting role at the club following my retirement as a player but this appointment surpasses my expectations. The directors have created a position with real responsibility and opportunity and I look forward to contributing to this great club off the field as much as I enjoyed doing so on it.”
The Irishman will continue to work with player/coach, Brendan Venter, on the development of the professional squad.
O’Shea’s responsibilities will be for the commercial development of the club, supervision of the professional squad, player development including co-ordination of the club’s development programme and the upkeep of playing links with the amateur club, liaison with the RFU, IRFU and Premier Rugby and with relevant board of directors.
