Stringer Out of Munster Side

International scrum-half Peter Stringer will take no part in Munster’s Celtic League final clash with Leinster at Lansdowne Road. Stringer aggravated an ankle injury in last weekend’s semi final win over Ulster and was finally ruled out of the side following Friday’s training spin on the back pitch at Lansdowne Road.
Stringer’s injury makes Munster’s task that bit more difficult against a Leinster team already installed as favourites to lift the trophy.
Speaking at a lunchtime joint press conference Leinster coach Matt Williams explained that a feature of his side’s success this season was their ability to put out a settled side on a regular basis. ” Last season was a nightmare from an injury point of view, we had eight different half back combinations. So while we’ve had a few bumps and bruises this year, it’s been nothing as bad”.
So this time around it’s Munster who must plan without front line players and coach Declan Kidney was still not in a position to finalise his backline after training. ” We have to wait on medical reports on several players and until we hear those we cannot make a final decision. We would love to be able to finalise but right now we are not in a position to do so.
