ireland were no match for the Australian Schools side
Five second half tries, four of which were converted by David Lyons, gave Australia Schools a comfortable 47-6 victory over Ireland Schools at Temple Hill.
The Irish trailed 14-6 at half time, their points in the opening half coming from David Connellan, but in the second half they had nothing to offer against a rampant and hugely impressive Australian outfit. What little ball they did mange to secure was quickly turned over and once Junior Hunt had opening the scoring within two minutes of the restart the floodgates opened. The other try scorers were Chris Siale, John Clements, Jonathan Hoy and Ole Abei. Lyons landed three first half penalties while Drew Mitchell scored the first of his side’s six tries in the dying minutes of the opening half.
