Newcastle Falcons, London Wasps and NEC Harlequins, the sides that will engage Leinster, Ulster and Munster next weekend in the Heineken Cup, enjoyed varying fortune in the Zurich Premiership this weekend as they prepared for Round Five of the Heineken Cup.

Newcastle Falcons travelled to Kingsholm where they lost 29-25 to Gloucester. London Wasps won the bottom of the table clash with Leeds Tykes on a 28-18 scoreline while Declan Kidney and Niall O’Donovan were on hand at Vicarage Road to see their Thomond Park opponents, NEC Harlequins, lose 34-18 to Saracens. Paul Burke was responsible for all of Harlequins scores, five penalties and a drop goal
