Schools Senior Titles for St Mary’s and St Munchin’s.

18/03/02.Agony and ecstasy in equal doses in Lansdowne Road and Musgrave Park yesterday where the finals of the respective Schools Senior cup were decided in dramatic fashion.

In Musgrave Park, St Munchin’s left it until the dying minutes before securing their first title since 1982. They trailed PBC 19-13 Damian Varley scored the try that left just one point in it. It was then left to Wayne Murphy to add the vital points to seal a long awaited victory.

In Lansdowne Road it was more a case of backs to the wall as St Mary’s held out in the face of a late Belvedere onslaught to claim their fifth title. The eventual winners led 7-6 at half time.
