22/04/02.This year’s Millennium U20 final will be a repeat of last year’s decider following victories for Bruff and UCC over Cork Constitution and Buccaneers respectively on Saturday.

Bruff, the only Junior club in the competition, fully deserved their narrow 9-6 win over Con at Kilballyowen Park, their scores coming from penalties by Eoin Cahill and John Carroll 2). Sean Meaney had given the visiting side the lead with an early penalty but Bruff led 9-3 at the break and showed tremendous courage to defend their advantage which was reduced to just three points when Meaney added a second penalty.

In the other semi-final, UCC overcame Buccaneers 23-10 despite playing second fiddle in the forward exchanges.
The opening score of the game didn’t arrive until a minute from the break when College skipper Shay O’Connell forced his way over for a try that Conor Quaid converted.

Buccs went in front within minutes of the restart thanks to a Colm Glynn penalty and then his conversion of Conor O’Loughlin’s try.
Quaid leveled the game with a drop goal and College dominated the closing stages, a try from Daire Fitzgerald and penalties from Peter O’Brien ensuring them a place in the final.
