Kirsty Peacock – Munster Physiotherapist

Kirsty Peacock

Born in Whitley Bay, Newcastle Upon Tyne, she attended Central Newcastle High School and has one brother. She has a Physiotherapy Degree from Salford University, Manchester and a Sports Medicine degree from Trinity College, Dublin. Her favourite sport is rowing and her other interests include running, ski-ing, and she has also attempted the triathalon.

She joined Munster in 2000 and before that worked with Dolphin rugby club, the Irish rowing team and the Sheffield Steelers Ice Hockey team.

A typical day for the elegant Peacock ?

” If travelling to Cork, it would mean a 7.30 rise, check I have all bandages and equipment packed (I’m a woman, I don’t travel light !)”.
“Foggy (Fergal O’Callaghan) picks me up in the Munster van at 8.00am. We’d stop off in Mallow for a cuppa. Arrive in Cork at 10. Wait for the lads to arrive and treat a few of the injuries and then at 10.30 we start strapping which can be a little hectic depending on the amount needing to be done.”
“There are usually about 30 players, and 15 or more may need some sort of strapping. Training starts at 11 am and I get a chance to look at the injured players who can’t train.”
“Training finishes at about 1.00 and I pick up any injuries sustained during the session. We may have lunch and then a meeting or video session.”
“Might leave Cork between 4 and 5 pm and be home between 5-6pm. Then sit down and write a few notes. I find this one of the easier days as it is really varied and I can be outside for some of it. The lads are usually in good form and the craic is good being together again.”
