04/06/02. Eddie O’Sullivan will name the side to play the New Zealand Divisional Selection tomorrow (Wednesday) following a morning training session at the Alpine Energy Stadium.
The only player not likely to feature in selection for the tour opener is Malcolm O’Kelly who has been suffering from shin splints. O’Kelly has not taken part in any of the training sessions to date, confining himself to light exercise with the Irish fitness coaches.
The squad underwent a fairly intensive training spin this morning – in brilliant sunshine – with Declan Kidney putting the backs through their paces while Eddie O’Sullivan and Niall O’Donovan concentrated on the forwards. At the end of the session the squad left for the Century Pool Complex for a pool session and in the afternoon the focus was on weight training.
