DLSP Looking For 25 Just Men

De La Salle Palmerston is the place to be on Saturday morning if you want to have brekker and see Ireland take on the mighty All Blacks in the second Test in Auckland’s Eden Park.

Following on from a very successful AGM with more than 70 members turning up and after the success of last years “breakfast with the Lions in Kilternan” ,a number of people enquired whether the club will be open this Saturday morning to show the second test against the All Blacks.

Therefore, the bar committee have agreed to do so on the basis that more than 25 club members are interested in attending. Already over 10 members have expressed support for the proposed All Black Breakfast on Saturday morning, so they need just need 15 more to make it happen.

Some points of interest(or not) from the AGM:

Approximately 70 members turned up on the night.

The Hon. Secretary wished club members Eddie Brennan, Kevin Sharkey and Tom Lillis speedy recoveries on their respective illness’s.

Finance officer John Dwyer advised that the club was now fully tax compliant.

Thanks to some very hard work from Paul O Neill, the bar gross was up from 15K to 26K.

Thanks was expressed to Conor McCormick for over ten years of service to rugby at De La Salle Palmerston.

Congratulations was expressed to Phillip de Barra and Fintan Kearns on their commitment to their current u-18 team, having coached them since they entered the youth section and now taking them into u-20 level.

Again some industrious work by Sean O Neill has seen our sponsorship income raise by 8K.

U-18 were complimented by the president for the winning of three tournaments during the season.

With fall off in interest in AIL, gate receipts were down from 11K to 7k.

No income raised by social committee as we must be the only rugby club not to have one.
Anyone interested in organising even one function for the season ahead?

No International forecast competition organised this year by anyone. This was something that was always very successful because it was different, anyone interested in getting together with someone else to co-ordinate this?

Incoming president Pairic Guilfoyle praised Ian Hunter for his huge contribution to the club and his excellent role as an ambassador for the club during this period.
