Scotland No 8 Simon Taylor was being
examined by
an orthopaedic specialist here Sunday following the severe knee
injury he
sustained in Saturday’s Six Nations Championship defeat in Dublin.
Edinburgh back-row Taylor was stretchered off with ligament damage
to his
left knee early in the second-half and Scotland coach Matt Williams
described
the injury as “severe”, adding that Taylor was “in a
lot of pain”.
Scotland physiotherapist Stuart Barton monitored Taylor on
Saturday night
and travelled with him on an early flight back from Dublin.
Team doctor James Robson said: “Simon will be seeing an
orthopaedic
specialist for further assessment and possible treatment.”
Ireland won the match 37-16, securing the Triple Crown after
beating all
their fellow British Isles nations this season and second place in
the
Championship behind Grand Slam winners France.
But defeat for Scotland meant they finished bottom of the table
after
losing all five of their Six Nations games.
