Former Ireland A coach Steph Nel is to step down as director of rugby at relegated English Premiership club Rotherham at the end of the season.

The former Connacht coach was hired in October last year to try
and revive
the club’s fortunes in their first season in the elite league but
failed to
and they have garnered an embarrassing two points from their 20
matches so far.

“The position is going to be advertised and I won’t be
re-applying,” Nel
told the club’s website.
“There are a lot of reasons for my decision but I don’t want
to go into
them until we have played our last two games against Leicester and
Newcastle.”
