Despite hinting last month that he was going to return to New Zealand for family reasons next summer, Warren Gatlandlooks set to see out the further remaining year on his contract.
Gatland had a meeting with Wasps owner Chris Wright, after which Wright commented ‘After speaking to him I expect him to see out his contract with us. He has been fantastic for Wasps and would be very hard to replace. I do not want him to leave, but he and his wife are New Zealanders and it is natural they will want to return home at some point … but I think it will be a couple of years away.’
Gatland has coached the club to four major trophies over the past two seasons, including the Heineken European Cup.
