Geoff Moylan has formally announced that he is retiring as coach of Shannon for personal reasons. Shannon legend Mick Galwey is his replacement.

Moylan’s tenure at Shannon saw the club maintain its pre-eminence on the Irish club scene. With Moylan at the helm, Shannon won 2 AIB All Ireland Leagues, 3 Munster Senior Cups, 3 Munster Senior Leagues and a Limerick Charity Cup.

His replacement, Mick Galwey, is nothing short of a club legend. Apart from his 41 Irish caps, ‘Gaillimh’ has been a British and Irish Lion, accumulated a record 131 Munster caps, 6 AIB AIL winner’s medals and 10 Munster Senior Cups.

A Shannon man for almost 20 years, this should be the most seamless of transitions.
