Ulster had a deserved 33-11 win over Munster at U-21 level to take the interprovincial crown.
It was a fine achievement to beat the champions of the past two seasons in their backyard, but Ulster manager David Millar knew that they had a fine side, saying
“It was quite an achievement for the boys and for them to go to Cork and win down there is always something special. It’s a very talented side and we knew we could do well in the tournament going into it.”
Meanwhile, Leinster had a 19-15 win over Connacht in Athlone in difficult conditions. Brian O’Shea’s kicking proved the difference as Connacht outscored Leinster 2-1 in tries, but Leinster were reasonably comfortable in the second half.
