Delayed Scans For D’Arcy And O’Driscoll

Gordon D’Arcy and Brian O’Driscoll had scans on their hamstring injuries yesterday in Dublin, after both limping out of Sunday’s 28-17 Six Nations success in Rome.

Whether or not the midfield duo are able to line out against Scotland at Murrayfield on Saturday, will be revealed when the Irish squad is named at 12.45pm today.

D’Arcy was first to come off the Stadio Flaminio sward, pulling up while in full flight in the build-up to Geordan Murphy’s opening try on 26 minutes.

Captain O’Driscoll, who claimed the RBS Man-of-the-match accollade thanks to two priceless set-ups for Murphy and Peter Stringer’s touch downs, had to be helped off the field following Italy’s injury time consolation score from prop Martin Castrogiovanni.

The 26-year-old Leinster back was hauled into a ruck out wide, and looked to be in some pain when his leg was forced one way, and his body the other.

Both centres also clashed heads on 24 minutes, with O’Driscoll coming off worse at the side of a midfield ruck.
