Flanker Lewis Moody is to undergo a fitness test on his infected finger later this morning, in a bid to take his place in the England team for tomorrow’s RBS Six Nations clash at Lansdowne Road.

The Leicester Tiger – who missed England’s opening 11-9 loss to Wales – joined up with Andy Robinson’s squad last night in Dublin, and will be given as much time as possible to prove his fitness.

Robinson, who will bring in Gloucester’s Andy Hazell if Moody is ruled out, said this morning: “Lewis is being looked at by our medical team. He will do a fitness test later this morning and we will make a decision after that.

“We are giving ourselves that little bit more time, and we will make the call when we are ready to make it,” he told reporters at today’s press conference.
