Horan Deserved Winner Of Munster Gong

Marcus Horan has claimed the Tipperary Water/Munster Player Of The Quarter award for April-May, thanks to some barnstorming displays.

Marcus Horan has claimed the Tipperary Water/Munster Player Of The Quarter award for April-May, thanks to some barnstorming displays.

Since lining out in all seven of the province’s Heineken Cup fixtures this season and claiming a try as a second half replacement against Wales in March, the 27-year-old prop has gone from strength to strength in the red of Munster.

Horan was to the fore in the loose as Alan Gaffney’s men attempted to overcome a poor start in their Heineken Cup quarter-final against Biarritz. The Shannon clubman put in one memorable carry from deep inside Munster territory right up into the Basque side’s 22, and was ever ready at ruck and maul time.

Horan also bagged Munster’s first try as they came from behind to pip Leinster earlier this month, for a place in the Celtic Cup final.

Unfortunately substituted with a shoulder injury in the Cup decider win over Llanelli, Horan has since been named in the Ireland squad to travel to Japan for two Tests next month and is progressing back to full fitness for the Far East trip.
