New Two-Year Deal For Ulster’s Steinmetz

Former All-Black Paul Steinmetz is to remain at Ravenhill for another two seasons after tying down a new contract with Ulster.

The 27-year-old centre, who lined out 25 times for the province this past season, scoring four tries in the process, has made an excellent recovery from the broken leg he suffered against the Borders, twelve months ago.

Capped once by New Zealand against Wales in 2002, Steinmetz penned a new contract with Ulster boss Mark McCall, with his original two-year deal expiring at the end of the 2004/05 season.

An undoubted first choice selection in McCall’s midfield, Steinmetz put in a strong showing in this year’s Celtic League, scoring four tries, five conversions, five penalties and one drop goal in his 18 appearances.
