The Irish Rugby Supporters club held its inaugural social event to celebrate the British
& Irish Lions v Argentina game in Cardiff on Monday night.
The event was held underneath the O2 West Stand and was attended by over 160 lucky club
members and their guests to watch the game in Cardiff on big screens. All those who arrived were also treated to a view into the inner sanctum of the Irish team – the dressing room!
Fully kitted out as it is for International match days, guests were also able to get a tour of the dressing room and everything that happens on match days from the Irish senior team Baggage Master, Mr. Paddy ‘Rala’ O’Reilly.
Following the tour of the dressing room and a view of the Lansdowne pitch, guests watched the game in Cardiff on the big screens. Although many were disappointed by the 25-all draw and overall performance of the Lions, this was more then made up for by the nights guest of honour – Ireland, Munster and Lions legend Mick Galwey.
Current Shannon coach Mick, who toured with the 1993 Lions to New Zealand, gave his expert analysis on this summer’s Lions tour to New Zealand this summer and the match at the Millennium Stadium.
The night was a big success and is just the first of many events that will be taking place for members of the Irish Rugby Supporters club.
