The Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) is the governing body of the sport in Ireland. It
is dedicated to the development, growth and success of rugby football in Ireland and has
over 300 technical, professional rugby-playing and support staff.
Financial Accountant
The IRFU is seeking to appoint a Financial Accountant. This is a key position within the
IRFU Finance Team and the individual appointed will be responsible for the preparation of
monthly accounts, processing VAT and Revenue returns along with providing expertise,
knowledge and information in relation to the accounting transactions, data and reports in
conjunction with the IRFU Financial Controller and respective IRFU management and
staff.
The individual appointed will be responsible for delivering professional, effective and
timely accounting practices which will be implemented in line with best practice.
The principal areas of responsibility will be:
Preparation and analysis of monthly accounts
Reconciliation of IRFU accounts
Recording and reporting on day to day financial transactions and events
The ideal candidate will have completed a relevant accountancy qualification (ACA / ACCA
/ CIMA) and will have a minimum of 5 years’ related work experience. Excellent
organisational, communication and teamwork skills will also be essential for the role.
