In undoubtedly the clash of the first round, AIB League Division One champions Shannon will play their great Munster rivals Cork Constitution on Sunday, December 18. Another plum fixture is the clash of Division One sides Buccaneers and Ballymena in the only preliminary round tie (Saturday, November 12).

Following the completion of the first round, the winning teams will again be entered into an open draw for the AIB Cup quarter-finals, which will be played on Saturday, February 11, 2006.
