Ulster full-back Bryn Cunningham has been called into the Ireland ‘A’ squad as cover for injury worry Ian Dowling.
Cunningham joined up with the ‘A’ squad that has travelled to France for Friday night’s clash with France ‘A’ in Limoges. Munster winger Dowling picked up a leg injury during training yesterday (Tuesday) and is being monitored over the next 48 hours.
Ireland ‘A’ coach Michael Bradley said: “Ian picked up an injury yesterday and we felt that as a precaution, we would bring Bryn along as cover.
“We are fairly hopeful that Ian will be ready to win his first ‘A’ cap on Friday night, but if he does not recover, Bryn will join the replacements, with John Hearty moving to the right wing.”
The Ireland ‘A’ team face their French counterparts in Limoges on Friday (kick-off 6.30pm (GMT)).
