Ireland prop John Hayes was taken to hospital on Sunday night with a suspected viral infection.

Late last night, Hayes developed a viral infection with a high temperature.

Given the demands and exertions of the game on Sunday, it was felt prudent to take every precaution and admit him to hospital overnight for observation. His condition has stabilised this morning and he is expected to be released within the next 24 hours.

The Bruff and Munster front rower will return home to recover for the rest of the week and is expected to report to camp next Sunday.
