Pictured above: Bryn Cunningham dots down Ulster’s opening try after 12 minutes. The score was Cunningham’s first of this season’s Celtic League. The Dungannon clubman, who turns 28 on Thursday, was on the bench for the Ireland “A” team’s recent 33-18 defeat of their English counterparts in Gloucester.

Ulster full-back Bryn Cunningham looks to the skies after his opener at Ravenhill.

Ulster’s former Ireland centre Jonny Bell tries to gather in possession with Dragons out-half Craig Warlow close by. Bell, who turned 32 last month, made his last appearance for Ireland against Italy in August 2003. Voted man of the match when the province defeated Colomiers in the 1999 Heineken Cup final, Bell has 36 Irish caps to his name.

Flying Ulster winger and Ireland Sevens player Andrew Maxwell tries to get a kick away under the scrutiny of Dragons and Wales centre Hal Luscombe. The Ballymena speedster got another chance to impress on Saturday with Ireland’s Andrew Trimble (knee) failing a fitness test. Maxwell, 24, has scored six tries in seven Celtic League and Heineken Cup outings this season.

Kieran Campbell, who came on in the second half as replacement scrum half, tries to get away from Rhys Oakley of the Dragons.

Ulster coach Mark McCall said after Saturday’s win: “A win is a win, but overall, I was disappointed by the quality of our second half performance. We had the game all wrapped up (at 24-10 at half time). We scored three tries in the opening 20 minutes and, at that point, the fourth try which would have given us a bonus point looked a formailty.

“All credit to the Dragons for the way they defended, but we still have work to do in this competition.”
