– IRELAND are the TOP PENALTY SCORERS after two matches. Castleknock College out-half Brian Collins has kicked SIX successful penalties. Chile and France are close behind on five.

There have been no red cards in the tournament so far. GEORGIA have the worst discipline of the teams with FOUR YELLOW CARDS. Samoa, Ireland’s next opponents, have had three players in the sin bin.

The TALLEST PLAYER in the 2006 IRB U-19 World Championship is French lock THOMAS VERVOORT at 6ft 8in/202cm. Locks Thomas Walsh (Castleknock College) and Andrew Browne (Galwegians RFC) share the honour as Ireland’s tallest players – both stand at 6ft 5in/196cm.

New Zealand’s eighteen-year-old monster prop BEN AFEAKI is the HEAVIEST PLAYER at 23st 2lbs/147kg. At 6ft 4in, North Harbour’s Afeaki takes some stopping! Ruaidhri Murphy of Castleknock College is Ireland’s heaviest player, weighing in at 18st 4lbs/116kg and standing at 6ft 2in. An honourable mention for a player who Ireland will come face to face with on Thursday – Samoan flanker Afa Tasipale who, at just 17, weighs in at a mammoth 22st 12lbs/145kg. All six of the Samoan squad’s props weight between 17st 5lbs and 22st 1lb – give us mobility any day!
