Former Connacht and Munster scrum half Eoin Reddan has been voted as Wasps’ Players’ Player of the Year in only his first season with the London club.

The Limerick man has made an obvious impression at the Causeway Stadium, ousting World Cup winner Matt Dawson for the number 9 shirt. Described by Wasps head coach Shaun Edwards as ‘a little hero’ for coming to his side’s aid when three of their five scrum halves were recently injured, Reddan had a campaign to remember – making his Ireland debut and picking up a Powergen Cup winners’ medal.

However, a niggling groin injury has robbed him of a chance to shine on Ireland’ s summer tour to Australia and New Zealand.

Still the 25-year-old, who moved away from Munster last summer, was delighted when receiving the Wasps’ accolade. He said: “I’m very proud to be receiving this award. To be acknowledged by your own team mates really means a lot, and I’m absolutely over the moon to have been recognised like this by the boys at Wasps.

“I came to Wasps to set myself a challenge of playing with the best and improving my game, and I knew the minute I came, it was the right move. The way things have gone is so much better than I even dared to expect though,” he added.

“The help and advice I received from Shaun Edwards and Matt Dawson has been massively important in helping me, and Roger (Knibbs) and the physios have been brilliant in managing to keep me going to the end of the season.”

Reddan made 24 appearances for Wasps this season, scoring 3 tries in the process and helping Edwards’ side reach the Guinness Premiership semi-finals.
