AIB League Kicks Off

Table Top clashes are the order of the day in the AIB League this weekend. Con and Tarf face Garryowen and Shannon while unbeaten Ballynahinch face Inst. in Division Three.

The AIB League resumes in style this weekend following the Christmas break. It will be tough at the top in Division One as the top four all play each other. Cork Con travel to Shannon, while Clontarf are away to Garryowen.

In the trailing pack, UL Bohs, Lansdowne and Dungannon will all be hoping to make ground on the top four. All three are on the road though as UL Bohs travel to Dublin to play St. Mary’s, Dungannon are away to Belfast Harlequins and Lansdowne face the short trip to Stradbrook to face Blackrock.

In Division Two leaders Old Belvedere host mid table Thomond, while Greystones – two points behing but with a game in hand will be on the road to Limerick to play Old Crescent. IrishRugby.ie’s Division Two Diarist, Dave Walsh of Suttonians, takes his side to DLSP in the hopes that they can close two point gap with Greystones.

Ballynahinch are the only unbeaten side in the AIB League with six wins from six. This weekend they face the difficult trip to Shaws Bridge to face second placed Instonians. In another table top clash Wanderers in third travel to fourth placed Banbridge.

Both Nenagh Ormond and Rainey Old Boys will be hoping to take advantage and grab a place in the top four. The Tipp boys travel to Sunday’s Well while Rainey are on the road to City of Derry.
