After an examination on Monday, it is anticipated that Ulster scrum half Isaac Boss will be fit for the beginning of Ireland’s RBS 6 Nations campaign next month.

Boss, who now has five Ireland caps to his name, injured his right shoulder during the early stages of Ulster’s Magners League win over Glasgow on Saturday.

An Ulster Branch statement confirmed that he is suffering from “severe trauma to the AC joint in his right shoulder with extensive soft tissue damage and bruising.”

At this stage, treatment and reassessment of the injury are ongoing and Boss’ return date is difficult to predict, however the Ulster medical staff feel that the New Zealand-born player should be fit for the Six Nations kick-off at the Millennium Stadium on February 4.

The extended Irish squad for the Six Nations championship will be named next week.
