The Irish Rugby Football Union and Leinster Rugby are happy to announce that Gordon D’Arcy has committed his immediate future by agreeing terms for a three-year extension of his current contract.
Commenting on the news, IRFU Chief Executive Philip Browne said: “This is another important contract secured by the IRFU and Leinster Rugby and is part of the IRFU’s long stated policy of keeping our leading players in Ireland.
“Gordon is an integral part of both the Leinster and Ireland teams and we are delighted that he has followed both Brian O’Driscoll and Ronan O’Gara by agreeing a new contract to remain with his province.
“His decision is another endorsement of the structures in place that are designed to keep our leading players with their provinces and ensure that they are available for the Ireland team.”
Gordon D’Arcy said: “I am pleased to have agreed improved terms with the Union and look forward to working hard to assist Leinster and Ireland and achieve success with them over the next three years.”
Mick Dawson, the Chief Executive of Leinster Rugby, said: “This is more great news for Leinster Rugby, coming on the back of our recent signings of Brian O’Driscoll, Shane Jennings and Leo Cullen.
“It is also important for the squad and the Leinster supporters as we head into the last third of the season with important games in both the Magners League and Heineken Cup. Gordon D’Arcy is a player synonymous with Leinster Rugby and I look forward to seeing him continue to line out in the blue jersey.”
