Setanta Ink Deal For 2007 And 2011 RWC Coverage

Setanta Sports Ireland have signed a contract with the International Rugby Board (IRB) to show live coverage of all matches at both the 2007 and 2011 Rugby World Cups.

Setanta Sports will be the only place where Irish rugby fans can see live, full match coverage of all 48 games from the 2007 and 2011 tournaments, according to the broadcaster.

Coverage of the 2007 Rugby World Cup will begin on Setanta Sports on September 7, when host nation France face Argentina at the Saint Denis Stadium.

Daire O’Brien will lead the studio discussion throughout the competition, with a special focus on Ireland’s campaign. Setanta Sports rugby ambassador Paul O’Connell will also feature throughout the coverage.

“We are delighted to sign this contract and secure the rights for the 2007 and 2011 Rugby World Cups,” said Setanta Sports chief executive Niall Cogley, who penned the deal alongside IRB chairman Dr. Syd Millar.

“This represents the next phase in our growth as a Sports Broadcaster and adds to our impressive collection of live sports rights.

“Rugby is growing in popularity and we are looking forward to bringing top quality coverage of this world event to Irish sports fans.”
