Exiles: Under 16 – 17 Screening Day

For the first time the Exiles employed the above event (instead of an U17 fixture) due to the numbers of good young candidates we have on our databases. It took place at St. Mary’s College, Twickenham, on Sunday 1st April past.

We invited 50 of our best young prospects along for the day, including several players who have played U16 Divisional rugby in England; in fact, all four Divisions were represented in this respect.

The coaching team was led by our Head Coach Peter Halsall, backed up by Andrew Browne, Henry Diamond, Brian Farrell, and Paddy Gill, with a guest appearance from Alan Martinovic of Colston’s School and Bath fame. An excellent day’s rugby ensued.

For those young readers who will be disappointed, as they did not know about it, let me explain. The selected players had either been ‘spotted’ playing this season or last, and/or had been highly recommended to us, and were on the afore-mentioned databases that we build up.

The chance is available now for everyone to join them. Simply go to the Screening Camp page, read the details and apply for our annual U17-19 Screening Camp, which will be held on 29/30 June at St. Mary’s College.
