As the Ireland Under-18 Club side reaches the final of the FIRA-AER Championship, one unlucky Exile is missing out.
Watching his fellow Irish U-18s play England in Biarritz this week was Elliott O’Brien, who had originally been selected to be on the playing side.
Unfortunately, having started against Scotland last month at out-half he suffered a bad concussion in the game, which ruled him out of the FIRA-AER tournament.
Elliott is a product of the Royal Grammar School High Wycombe and London Wasps EPDC and is pictured (on the left) with fellow RGS & Ireland U-18s player Seamus McKimm, with the legendary Willie John McBride taking centre space.
Willie John was guest of honour at the annual RGS Sportsman’s Dinner where he ‘re-presented’ their Ireland jerseys to them – some consolation to Elliott, we hope.
