Summer Scrummage – Ulster Launch
Andrew Trimble and Simon Best were on hand to launch the Ulster Bank/IRFU Summer Scrummage in Ulster this week.
The Ulster and Ireland stars took time out from training to help launch the Ulster section of the Summer Scrummage.
Due to popular demand, the new advanced summer camps have increased to 75 throughout the island of Ireland, a significant increase on last year’s 58 camps. In Ulster, camps will be held at 20 venues throughout July and August. Camps are open to boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 13 and will include player appearances, along with special appearances from popular rugby mascot, Spud-bud!!
The five-day camps will be run from 9.30am to 1.30pm each day, between July 2 and August 24 and will be staffed by qualified IRFU coaches. The professionally supervised activities will be child-centred, taking into consideration the capacities and needs of each young player. Activities will focus on team spirit, encouraging the development of the players through active guidance with players learning predominantly through playing and fun activities.
Each participating child will receive an official Ulster Bank/IRFU Canterbury Summer Scrummage Gear Pack including back pack, T-shirt, shorts, socks, rugby ball, poster and a certificate of attendance.
