Draw Made For 2007/08 Heineken Cup
Leinster, Ireland’s only seeded team, and previous winners Munster and Ulster have been placed in three tough pools for next season’s Heineken Cup tournament. See below for details of today’s pool draw.
The draw was made this afternoon by European Rugby Cup chairman Jean-Pierre Lux and former Wales and Lions forward Scott Quinnell at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium.
The six seeded teams were last season’s champions Wasps, Stade Francais, Leinster, Benetton Treviso, Glasgow and the Ospreys.
Ulster were drawn in Pool 2, alongside the Ospreys, Gloucester and Bourgoin, while Munster have Wasps, Clermont Auvergne and Llanelli to contend with in Pool 5.
Leinster, who, like Munster, reached last season’s Heineken Cup quarter-finals, have been pitted with Leicester Tigers, Toulouse and Edinburgh in Pool 6, which is arguably ‘the group of death’ with Tigers and Toulouse having won the competition on five occasions between them.
The first round of pool fixtures will take place between November 9 and 11, with the final in May 2008.
