There will be a wide variety of speakers present including elite referee staff, senior coaches from overseas, elite national and provincial coaches and sports science specialists working with our national programs.

Connacht Rugby Provincial Games Domestic Manager, Martin Gallagher, is delighted that Connacht Rugby will be hosting the event and sees it as a great opportunity for referees, coaches, trainers and players who wish to learn more about the sport.

“I am delighted that we are in a position to host the Coaching and Refereeing Conference –  We have a great series of speakers with a huge amount of knowledge and experience in various domains of the rugby world”, he said.

“The calibre of speaker is important and the content equally so. Having Michael Bradley the Connacht Team Head Coach and Ireland “A” Coach as the opening speaker is a tremendous opportunity for anyone who is coaching at any level, the likes of Dave Keane and Dave McHugh who have refereed all over the world and Ruth Wood Martin who us currently in the National Team set-up assisting the players with their eating programs as they get ready for the Rugby World cup in France is one that we will all benefit from. We have two overseas coaches in IRB Development Manager Mark Harrington (formally with England Rugby Union) and Harry Roberts who was coaching in South Africa with the Gauteng Lions U21 Team and recently in England with Loughborough University, but is better known as a player who played for South Africa at Hooker and for several seasons with Leicester Tigers.”

The conference is designed to provide a learning opportunity for everyone; referees, coaches, trainers and players who want to know and learn more about rugby. The Connacht Staff and I look forward to welcoming everyone from all over Ireland to the “West”.
