Summer Scrummage Camps Draw Connacht Stars
Members of the Connacht squad, including young forwards David Gannon and Ronan Loughney, visited the IRFU/Ulster Bank Summer Scrummage camp in Dangan, Galway recently.
Despite how the weather has hampered conditions this summer, all involved enjoyed a terrific afternoon of fun in Dangan earlier this month when the Connacht team visited.
This year’s IRFU/Ulster Bank Summer Scrummage camps have seen record numbers attend, not just in Connacht but all over the country, which is something Connacht Provincial Games Domestic Manager Martin Gallagher feels can still grow as the summer goes on.
“The weather hasn’t dampened the children’s enthusiasm. With so many wet days we were concerned that it might be a wash out but to be honest it has been a tremendous success,” said Gallagher.
“The YDOs and camps’ management teams have worked well in the adverse conditions and Women’s Youth Development Officer Wendy Hickey and Club Development Officer Eamonn Molloy have worked tirelessly to ensure that it has been a fun time for all the children.
“I am equally delighted and most grateful to the Connacht professional players whom even though they are in their pre-season training turned out to work with the YDOs and play some fun games with the children – it was great to see and will bring memories back for these kids for seasons to come.”
