Celtic Rugby today confirmed the list of televised fixtures for the 2007/08 Magners League season, with games to be broadcast on Setanta Sports, BBC Wales and S4C.
As the new season approaches, rugby fans can look forward to unparalleled TV coverage of the Magners League following the release today by Celtic Rugby and their broadcast partners – BBC Wales, Welsh language channel S4C, and international sports broadcaster Setanta Sports – of television schedules for the 2007/08 league games up until the New Year.
The first full round of matches, which will take place over the weekend of September 21-23, sees Cardiff Blues host Scottish visitors Glasgow Warriors in front of BBC Wales cameras at the Arms Park on Friday night, whilst Munster kick-off their season at Musgrave Park by welcoming Llanelli Scarlets and the cameras from S4C on Saturday evening.
Prior to this there are four mouth-watering all Wales clashes and the Welsh broadcasters will be at the Arms Park, Stradey Park, Rodney Parade and the Liberty Stadium to cover all the action.
The comprehensive coverage continues throughout the autumn with 35 matches from the first 10 rounds of Magners League fixtures scheduled to be televised by one or more of the broadcasters. There are also plans for a repeat of the bumper festive Christmas and New Year period of Magners League ties when fans can look forward to seven matches being shown overall.
David Jordan, Director of Celtic Rugby, said: “Last season the Magners League enjoyed another hugely successful year illustrated by the highly competitive end to the campaign. There was substantial growth in the interest that the tournament attracted with increases in both attendances and TV viewing figures. These statistics once again reveal the quality of our competition and its growing support and reputation.
“We are fortunate indeed to have such quality broadcast partners as BBC Wales, S4C and Setanta Sports televising our exciting brand of rugby.”
