The Ireland squad trained this afternoon in balmy sunshine and 25-degree heat at their training base of Stade Bordelais in Le Bouscat, just outside the city of Bordeaux.
Denis Hickie, who had been suffering from a bout of tonsillitis since the squad’s arrival on Wednesday evening, took a limited part in the session today, but is expected to take his place in the Ireland team to play Namibia in their Pool D opener on Sunday.
The only other injury worry in the Ireland camp is Shane Horgan, who is recovering from a knee ligament strain. The Leinster player took part in the session today and also had a strenuous fitness session with IRFU fitness and conditioning coach Mike McGurn.
Horgan remains on course to be available for selection for Ireland’s second Pool D match against Georgia on September 15.
