Ireland Squad Update: No Major Injury Worries

The Ireland squad regrouped today for a training session in Bordeaux after a couple of rest days. There were a couple of knocks picked up but no major injury worries to report.

Eddie O’Sullivan’s squad returned to the training pitch today in front of over 1,500 local rugby fans and school children who braved the wet conditions in Bordeaux to watch an open training session heled at the Stade Bordelais.

The team had enjoyed a couple of down days after the France game and trained fully today.  Ronan O’Gara sat out the training session as a precaution due to a bruised leg that he picked up in the 25-3 loss to France.  Girvan Dempsey also did not take part as he continued his recovery from his shoulder injury he sustained against France.

The contact session lasted over an hour and both Brian O’Driscoll (bang to the knee) and Jerry Flannery (shoulder stinger) were taken off after picking up knocks.  Isaac Boss also received three stitches to a cut above his left eye. None of the injuries during the session are serious enough to rule the players out of selection for this weekend’s final Pool D match against Argentina.
