Bruff may have won the Division Three title last season but they missed out on promotion to the second tier of the AIB League, and the Limerick club’s captain Cathal O’Regan is determined that his side will finish in the top two in the table this time around. Earlier this week he talked to IrishRugby.ie about the new league campaign.
Having finished third in the Division Three table last term, an agonising six points behind second-placed Ballynahinch, Bruff certainly gained revenge in the play-offs.
They scored an outstanding 29-3 semi-final win over ‘Hinch at Ballymacarn Park and then got the better of Wanderers, the table toppers, in a final which ended 18-12 in their favour.
Bruff’s fantastic end to last season and their impressive form at the start of the new campaign – they recently beat two Division Two teams, Highfield and Old Crescent, in the opening rounds of the AIB Cup – has the Kilballyowen Park residents in fine fettle heading into the 2007/08 AIB League.
Their hooker and captain Cathal O’Regan, who scored a try in last season’s final, talked to journalist Coilin Duffy to preview the new league campaign. Click on the link below to hear the interview in full.
