AIB League: Division One Round-Up

Saturday saw the start of the 2007/08 AIB League with the five Munster clubs in Division One all posting wins, while Dungannon, Galwegians and Lansdowne were also victorious. Read on for links to reports for all eight games.

Galwegians 10 St. Mary’s College 8, Crowley Park

Old Belvedere 13 Shannon 15, Anglesea Road
UL Bohemians 16 UCD 8, UL Bowl

Garryowen, the reigning Division One champions, opened the new AIB League campaign with a 23-point away win against Ballymena, while Cork Constitution, last season’s runners-up, stretched away from Blackrock College in the second half at Temple Hill. Click here for the match reports.

Dungannon had to dig deep to see off Terenure College as they conceded four second half tries before claiming a 31-30 victory over the Dubliners, while Barry Keeshan’s 18-point kicking haul guided Dolphin past Greystones at Musgrave Park on a 23-14 scoreline. Click here for the match reports.

Lansdowne let their feet do the talking at the RDS on Saturday as Robbie Dolan, Neil Walsh and Luke Cozens all bisected the posts in their side’s 15-10 win over Clontarf. Meanwhile, a late drop goal from Eamonn Molloy saw Galwegians pip St. Mary’s College 10-8 at Crowley Park. Click here for the match reports.

Andrew Thompson’s right boot was as reliable as ever as he kicked five penalties in Shannon’s 15-13 away victory over Old Belvedere on the opening day of the 2007/08 AIB League. Meanwhile, at the UL Bowl, a try from newcomer Lupeni Siale helped UL Bohemians to a 16-8 success against UCD. Click here for the match reports.
