AIB League: Results Round Up

The weather took a toll on the AIB League today with several games postponed in divisions 2 and 3 while St. Mary’s took full advantage of the conditions to end Shannon’s unbeaten run at the top of division 1.

With heavy rain falling in many areas several games in divisions 2 and 3 of the AIB League were postponed today.

AIB League Division 1


The conditions for those that went ahead made for tough going but win of the day must go to St. Mary’s College who brought Shannon’s unbeaten run to an end at Templeville Road.


Meanwhile Blackrock College beat Dublin rivals Old Belvedere at Stradbrook, with Belvo picking up yet another bonus point on the wrong side of the scoreboard.


Clontarf brought Dolphin down to earth with a 20-12 win at Castle Avenue.

Cork Constitution 20 – 3 U.L. Bohs

Garryowen 19 – 5 Dungannon

Greystones 15 – 23 Galwegians

AIB League Division 2


Three games fell foul of the conditions in division 2 today. The all Ulster clash of Hinch and Harlequins, the Munster derby between Thomond and Highfield and game between leaders Young Munster and Buccaneers.

Bective Rangers 5 – 0 Old Crescent

Suttonians 30 – 15 Barnhall

Thomond P – P Highfield

Young Munster P – P Buccaneers

D.L.S.P. 11 – 13 Malone

Clonakilty 28 – 8 Dublin University

U.C.C. 23 – 15 Wanderers


AIB League Division 3


Two more games suffered in division 3 with the ties between Banbridge and Waterpark, Connemara and Ards all called off.


Bruff continued their storming run at the top of the table with a 31-0 drubbing of Rainey Old Boys, keeping intact their reputation for having the meanest defence in the three divisions. Second placed Inst. kept up the chase with a win at home to Nenagh Ormond.
