Navan In The Pink

Members of Navan RFC recently presented a cheque for over seven thousand euro to the Irish Cancer Society.

The funds were raised as part of the Navan Pink Day to raise awareness of breast cancer with Navan playing in a specially commissioned pink strip. The fund raiser was the initiative of head coach Brad Harris.

Navan 1st XV players were kitted out in a once off pink playing jersey in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness. The jerseys were auctioned off individually to the highest bidder from the players and supporters in the clubhouse after the match and raised a tidy sum for a good cause.

George Hook and Trevor Brennan very generously autographed some of the scrumcaps and jerseys and added great value to these items at the auction. The auctioneer on the night was member and past Presidents, Paul Brady, who certainly knew how to get the best out of everyone.  Some successful bidders probably had to head off for the overdraft department on the Monday!

The jerseys were produced thanks to generous support of The Carphone Warehouse, Ebony Rose Rooms and Reilly & Co (Contracts) Ltd as well as OB Sport.

Impact Sport donated some pink scrumcaps for the day in order to complete the Pink theme for the day.  All proceeds from the day are donated to The Irish Cancer Society.  Club members of Navan RFC sold various merchandise for Breast Cancer Awareness throughout the day as well.
