Cooke Ladies Defeat Touring Panthers

Cooke Ladies took on the touring Milwaukee Panthers last weekend. The Cooke side featured a number of provincial players and their experience told as they ran out worthy winners.

Cooke Ladies entertained the touring Milwaukee Panthers at Shwas Bridge last weekend and ran out worthy winners over the American University.

Featuring a number of Ulster players, the Cooke Ladies donned the Ulster jersey to mark the occasion. Cooke scored early through second row Nicola Dickson as the Ulster club side dominated up front.

The Cooke half back pairing of Suzanne Fleming and Heather Thomlinson made good use of the possession and with centre Laura Nichol they kept the American side on the back foot in the first half. For the Panthers Britney Biedenbender and Caila Ney tried to turn the tide with some dynamic running.

Pnathers started the second half strongly but Cook weathered the storm and Thomlinson’s kicking relieved the pressure. Laura Nichol was rewarded with a try in the final quarter of the game.

Colin Heyburn of rugbypicture.co.uk was on hand to record the game in pictures.
