With Ireland battling it out on the International stage there was still action in the AIB League and some unfinished business in the AIB Cup quarter finals.
In the AIB Cup there were two unfinished quarter finals to get through this weekend. Galwegians ran out easy winners against Division 2 standard bearers Malone with a 58 – 0 drubbing of the promotion hopefuls.
‘Wegians now face a tough semi final against the winner of the other quarter final played this weekend: Shannon. The Munster side put out St. Mary’s College in revenge for one of their defeats in the AIB League this season. They were determined not to lose twice to the Dublin side

In the AIB League there was action in Divisions 2 and 3, with the cream of the Division 1 sides in action for the Club International side against Scotland in Donnybrook.
Buccaneers have joined Malone at the top of Division 2 thanks to thier win over Barnhall. Clonakilty did struggling Suttonians no favours leaving the Dublin 13 side level on points with Wanderers and Thomond near the bottom of the table.
Barnhall 18 – 45 BuccaneersIn Division 3 there were two games up for decision. Banbridge kept up the pressure on the top three with their tight win over Connemara while Tipperary side Nenagh Ormond put a dent in Waterpark’s survival hopes with a 33 – 6 win.
