Upcoming AIB League Fixtures

While the mouth-watering AIB Cup semi-final showdown between Galwegians and Shannon will command much attention this weekend, Sunday’s re-fixed Division One game between St. Mary’s College and Dolphin could have a big say in deciding who fills the final spot in the league semi-finals.

Last Saturday’s game between St. Mary’s College and Dolphin was postponed due to an unplayable pitch at Templeville Road. Re-fixed for this Sunday, it is a vital fixture for Dolphin as they bid to leapfrog Clontarf in the table and grab that final spot in the Division One semi-finals.

Fifth-placed Dolphin are currently three points behind Clontarf, who are fourth in the table. The top three – Cork Constitution, Shannon and Garryowen – have already booked their places in the play-offs.

A win for Dolphin on Sunday would move them ahead of ‘Tarf in the standings and score a psychological blow for them ahead of the regulation phase’s final round of matches on April 19, when Dolphin are away to Cork Con and ‘Tarf entertain a struggling Galwegians side.

There is one outstanding match left in Division Three’s regulation phase with a victory for Naas over Connemara on Saturday possibly moving them up to fifth in the final table.

Meanwhile, the semi-finals in Division Two and Three have been set for Saturday, April 12 and Sunday, April 13. The fixtures are listed below.

The Buccaneers v UCC game will take place on the Sunday as Buccs’ home ground of Dubarry Park is playing hosts to the AIB Cup and AIB Junior Cup finals the previous day.
