Alain Rolland, one of Ireland’s leading referees, has been selected to referee the forthcoming Heineken Cup semi-final between London Irish and Toulouse at Twickenham on Saturday, April 26 (kick-off 3pm).
It will be the fourth time the Dubliner has refereed a Heineken Cup semi-final and his 42nd appearance as a match referee in the competition.
Rolland, who refereed the 2007 Rugby World Cup final in Paris, was also in quarter-final action on April 5 when London Irish beat Perpignan at the Madejski Stadium.
A member of the Leinster Branch of Referees, he took charge of the Leicester Tigers v Llanelli Scarlets Heineken Cup semi-final twelve months ago.
Meanwhile, Welshman Nigel Owens will be the man in the middle for Munster’s Heineken Cup semi-final clash with Saracens at the Ricoh Arena on Sunday, April 27 (kick-off 3pm).
It will be Owens’ first time to referee a Heineken Cup semi-final. He was also in charge for Munster’s quarter-final win over Gloucester at Kingsholm on April 5.
