A new series focusing on Irish women involved in sport at the highest level will feature members of the Ireland Women’s rugby squad.

The first episode in the series ‘Winning Women’ will air on Setanta Sports tonight at 9.30pm. The series will focus on women in sport at the highest level and will feature interviews with many of the young Irish women sports stars.

The series celebrate young Irish women sports stars and takes a look at their lives on and off the field.

Ireland’s Women’s rugby squad had one of their strongest seasons to date in the Women’s Six Nations and will be looking to build on that.

The panel this season featured players like Sarahjane Belton, who was named in the 2006 Women’s World Cup All-Star XV, Yvonne Nolan, Tania Rosser and Orla Brennan.

Brennan, Nolan and Rosser all featured for the Blackrock side that won the Women’s All-Ireland Division 1 final at the weekend.

Skippered by Rosser, ‘Rock beat a highly regarded UL Bohs side, featuring their Ireland team-mates Belton and Louise Beamish and Patrique Kelly. Bohs were chasing a record seventh title.

The game ended up 10-10 at the final whistle and Blackrock won on drop goals after extra time failed to separate them.

In the Division 2 final, Waterpark ran out 15-5 winners over Ballincollig. Both games were played in Nenagh.
