Ulster Name Squad For Midweek Clash With Munster

Ulster coach Matt Williams has announced a 26-man squad ahead of the province’s re-fixed Magners League clash with Munster at Ravenhill on Wednesday evening (kick-off 7.30pm).

The Ulster v Munster fixture has now been confirmed as being an all ticket game with no tickets available on match night. Supporters can still purchase tickets over the counter or telephone at Ravenhill and at SS Moore’s in Chichester Street.

Munster beat Saracens at the Ricoh Arena in Sunday’s Heineken Cup semi-final.

Commenting on Munster’s performance, Ulster coach Matt Williams said: “They were magnificent as always, any other team would have lost that game but they hung in for the win. Mentally, they are a tough group of men.”

With three games to play in ten days, the Ulster training regime has been re-jigged in the last week but Williams is happy with how the players have reacted.

“We have had a good week training, a few days off and then in over the weekend. The boys are all fit, keen and have smiles on their faces so I am happy.

“We have everyone back training – Paddy (Wallace), Rory (Best) and Stephen (Ferris) are all back from injury – as long as they all get through training today we should be fine to name our side tomorrow at noon,” he added.

Williams is hoping that the Fortress Ravenhill mentality will return to Ravenhill for the final three fixtures which will prove crucial for his side’s bid to make next season’s Heineken Cup.

Connacht are close behind Ulster with only four points separating the two provinces in the lower reaches of the Magners League table.

With Connacht having two league games left to play at the Sportsground, Ulster’s Heineken Cup qualification is by no means secured.

ULSTER Squad (v Munster): Backs (12) – Paul Marshall, Isaac Boss, Paddy Wallace, Niall O’Connor, Mark McCrea, Simon Danielli, Andrew Trimble, Tommy Bowe, Bryn Cunningham, Rob Dewey, Paul Steinmetz, Mark Bartholomeusz.

Forwards (14) – Justin Fitzpatrick, Rory Best, Tom Court, Justin Harrison, Kieron Dawson, Stephen Ferris, Ryan Caldwell, Carlo Del Fava, Matt McCullough, Nigel Brady, Bryan Young, Neil Best, Roger Wilson, Stuart Philpott.
