Foley To Lead Munster In Final Home Game

Anthony Foley will play his final competitive game on Irish soil for Munster on Saturday evening, having been selected as captain for the province’s Magners League clash with Glasgow Warriors at Musgrave Park (kick-off 5pm).

Foley, who won his 200th cap in Munster’s recent defeat to Ulster, will lead the province for one final time despite the presence of squad captain Paul O’Connell in the panel for the Glasgow game.

Foley, still the Heineken Cup caps record holder with 86 appearances, will be hoping to play some part in the upcoming European final but Saturday’s game will afford fans a chance to saw farewell to the legendary number 8 in Cork.

The 34-year-old gave great service to club, province and country throughout his career and it is fitting that ‘Axel’ will be afforded a testimonial towards the end of the month, which will incorporate a golf classic, a ‘This is Your Life’ type night and a Gala Banquet.
